Sargodha Board was established in the year 1978. Prior to that time, each district was under the oversight of Rawalpindi however, after witnessing the dramatic increase in the number of students appearing for the exam, the board and government administrators decided to make the area an autonomous body. This means that the board is operating as an individual entity independently of the Government of Punjab.
